Happy Chanukah
Friends,
Chanukah is a special time for the Jewish community. Up and down the country and all over the world, thousands of Jews will be lighting the chanukiyah and celebrating the miracle of the oil lasting for eight days.
It is a story which reminds us that even when times are hard, we should never lose hope. It is also a good opportunity to reflect on the values at the core of Judaism. Values of justice, compassion, and care for the poor and the needy – and to think about how we can act on them in our daily lives, helping to give hope to those around us.
As you gather with family and friends to celebrate together, I would like to send all Jews here in Britain my warmest wishes for a happy and healthy Chanukah.
